Greetings! My name is JoAnn Burke and I am very excited to be the grade 6-8 teacher at WPS. I am originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where Pasties are a main food group, snowmobiles are a form of transportation, and we speak Yooper!
I have been teaching for over 30 years and 26 of those years have been in grades 6-8. I started my teaching career as a special education teacher, transferred to general education, and later became a graduation coach for at risk students. My goal as a teacher is to be a positive role model for students in a safe learning environment and help all students to develop a lifelong love of learning. I want all of my students to believe in themselves, give 100%, and achieve any goal that they set for themselves. Some of my expectations for our class are that we all treat each other with kindness and respect, everyone puts forth their best effort, and we all learn and have fun! I believe a strong partnership between the school, parents, and the community is the key to a successful year for your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to a wonderful school year! |
